Task Force on Quality Long-Term Care. (February 2002). Report of the task force on quality long-term care. Legislative Research Commission (Frankfort, Kentucky).

Abstract:
Kentucky Senate Concurrent Resolution 39 in the 2000 General Assembly created the Task Force on Quality Long-Term Care, which met monthly from April through October 2001. The Task Force was charged with identifying methods that promote and enhance the quality of care provided in Kentucky's long-term care facilities and in-home and community-based services. The Task Force examined different ways to enhance the quality of care, among them: wage pass through programs to increase staff salaries; financial incentives for facilities exceeding quality standards; linkage of reimbursement to staffing levels; provision of additional training for facility staff; and mandatory staff-to-patient ratios. This report outlines its recommendations.

University of Minnesota, Research and Training Center on Community Living and The Lewin Group. (December 2006). CMS direct service workforce demonstration promising practices in marketing, recruitment and selection interventions. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Abstract:
This report identifies promising practices in direct care worker marketing, recruitment, and selection in states receiving Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) grants. Grantees used different techniques to improve recruitment and retention outcomes, including computer-based registration, marketing campaigns, realistic job previews, structured interviewing, and expanded orientation or mentoring of new employees. The report concludes that sustaining and replicating these interventions will require further research about associated costs and benefits and dissemination of this information.
