LaPlante, M. (2003, October 27). The Extent of Unmet Need for PAS: Results from A National Study. Presented at the Unmet Needs in Personal Assistance Services: Prevalence, Consequences, Costs and Policy Options hosted by Disability Statistics Center at UCSF.

Summary

Dr. LaPlante and colleagues study quantifies the shortfall in hours that people with unmet needs for PAS lack, using data from the National Health Interview Survey on Disability, and reveals that unmet need for PAS could be reduced or eliminated with relatively small additional public expenditures. Dr. LaPlante will discuss some implications of this research for refocusing and expanding existing public programs and other policy strategies.
