SummaryNEW DATA ON HEALTH AND AGING
The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is pleased to announce a new release of data in the Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/agingact.htm ). The new release contains new and updated tables: "Leisure-Time Physical Activity by Age, Sex, Race, and Hispanic Origin" and "Difficulty in Physical Functioning by Age, Sex, Race, and Hispanic Origin"from the National Health Interview Survey; updated tables on limitations of activity and supplemental health insurance among Medicare beneficiaries from Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey; and updated tables on health status, risk factors, and prevalence of chronic conditions from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. The next demonstration on the Warehouse will be at The NCHS Data User Conference, in Washington D.C., July 12-14. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/events/duc2004/duc_announce.htm If you are planning to attend this conference, please visit the NCHS Aging Activities exhibit booth to see a demonstration of new tables, Spanish language tables, teaching modules, and the new statistical testing utility. Also scheduled are two workshops on the Warehouse. If you would like to schedule a demonstration of the Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging, please, e-mail nha@cdc.gov with your location, name of your organization, and how many people you would like to invite for the presentation. Organizations located outside of the Washington DC-Baltimore area may be asked to compensate NCHS for travel expenses. If you haven't used the Warehouse before, it is a user-friendly Web-based data archive developed by NCHS with support from the National Institute on Aging. The Warehouse is specifically designed to show trends in health-related behaviors, health status, health care utilization, functional status and disability, and health care expenditures of the older population. The warehouse contains information from a variety of National and State level data systems, the majority maintained by NCHS. The Warehouse is a dynamic system; data are updated as new data become available. The number of topics grows as important new data are made available.
