California policies, programs and legislation expanding workplace PAS

The California Working Disabled Program

Many people with disabilities who wish to work risk the loss of cash and health benefits under Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). To eliminate this disincentive, some states have enacted Medicaid Buy-In programs that, among other things, expand funding for personal assistance services to support competitive employment. In California, this program is known as The California Working Disabled Medi-Cal Buy-In Program(CWD).
