Occupation: Personal and Home Care Aides (SOC code 399021) for Minnesota
Period: May 2005

The Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program produces employment and wage estimates for over 800 occupations. This is based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system, details of which can be found at http://www.bls.gov/soc/home.htm. These are estimates of the number of people employed in certain occupations, and estimates of the wages paid to them. Self-employed persons are not included in the estimates. These estimates are available for the nation as a whole, for individual States, and for metropolitan areas; national occupational estimates for specific industries are also available.

The OES program releases estimates every year in the second quarter. http://www.bls.gov/oes/oes_ques.htm

Footnotes:
(1) Estimates for detailed occupations do not sum to the totals because the totals include occupations not shown separately. Estimates do not include self-employed workers.
(2) Annual wages have been calculated by multiplying the hourly mean wage by 2,080 hours; where an hourly mean wage is not published, the annual wage has been directly calculated from the reported survey data.
(3) The relative standard error (RSE) is a measure of the reliability of a survey statistic. The smaller the relative standard error, the more precise the estimate.
(8) Estimate not released.
