Ask Mike - Being paid by medicaid to care for my child in Arizona
Hello Mike
I'm a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for my child in Denver, Colorado. I get paid by medicaid. I was wondering if there is a program in Arizona that does the same.
Thanks

Dear Colorado to Arizona,
Thanks for writing. Your question is about whether you can be paid to do in Arizona what you do now in Denver Colorado, which is to be a paid CNA for your child.
You should contact the Arizona State Medicaid Agency. On this PAS Center website you can find the contact information for this agency, the agency should be able to answer your question. Many other selections are available on this page that can put you in touch with organizations that may have useful information.
From the Arizona Medicaid Agency website, you will notice on the top right of their homepage, a "Search" box. Type "long term care for children" into the box and click on the "search" button. All sorts of links appear that may be of interest. If you scroll down to "2009 Division of Member Services" and click on that link, a document will appear that includes all sorts of children's services including on page 7, "Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS for children) with phone numbers and a summary of eligibility information.
Finally, I contacted a colleague from Phoenix about your question. He told me that all things being equal; assuming your child qualifies for services, meets eligibility criteria and that you meet provider requirements and so on, you should be able to be a paid provider under the Arizona Medicaid home and community long term services program.
Good luck man! I hope this helps.
Mike Oxford
